Diabetes Prevention and Control Program

The primary mission of the the West Virginia Diabetes Prevention and Control Program is to Increase the quality of life for persons with diabetes living in West Virginia.  The Diabetes Program is funded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and has adopted the national goals established for persons with diabetes. 

The primary goals of the Diabetes Program include promoting: annual eye exams; annual comprehensive foot exams; at least biannually HbA1c’s; annual influenza/pneumococcal immunization; reductions in health disparities for high risk groups; and to promote wellness, physical activity, weight management, blood pressure control, and smoking cessation.
